TBH for Car Rental Companies — Luggage Storage as Ancillary Revenue

Enterprise · Hertz · Avis · National · Alamo · Budget · Sixt · Europcar

Every major car rental group has an airline partner, a hotel partner, a loyalty partner.
None has a luggage storage partner.
That's TBH.

TBH turns your rental counter into a secure luggage storage point — generating ancillary revenue at the moment the customer hands back the keys and has nowhere to go. No additional fleet. No additional staff. Nothing to build.

The opportunity

A revenue line that has never been filled.

1 day

Time to activate a TBH partner location

Car rental companies have built partnerships with airlines, hotels, credit card companies, and insurance providers. The counter interaction that ends every rental — the moment a customer hands back the keys and has four hours before their flight — generates nothing beyond the rental itself. No existing partner fills this gap. TBH does.

The customer need

Three moments your customers already experience.

Luggage storage isn't a new need. It's a need your customers have every day at your locations — with nowhere to go.

1

Car return · Early flight

Returns the car. Flight isn't until 6pm.

The traveller hands back the keys at your airport location. They have five hours before check-in opens. They don't want to drag bags through the terminal all afternoon. Your counter is the last place they stand — and currently offers them nothing.

2

Car return · Hotel not ready

Returns the car. Hotel check-in is 3pm.

It's 10am. The traveller wants to explore the city. Their luggage is in the way. Your city-centre rental location is ideally placed to hold their bags while they spend the morning hands-free — and return a better-rested, better-disposed customer.

3

Car pickup · Luggage overflow

Picks up the car. Too much luggage to fit.

The traveller chose a smaller vehicle than they needed. Not everything fits. Your location holds the overflow securely until they can arrange a transfer — turning a potential complaint into a solved problem and a transaction for TBH.

Why now

The right moment to add this.

Car rental companies are actively investing in customer-service enhancements and ancillary revenue lines. Luggage storage is the one ancillary that requires no fleet investment, no vehicle procurement, and no depreciation risk. It monetises what your locations already have — counter space, staff presence, and a traveller who has nowhere to put their bags. The first car rental group to establish a luggage storage partner fills a gap that currently exists across the entire industry.

"Given the commoditization of vehicles, it makes sense that many automotive rental companies are looking for fresh sources of organic revenue growth. Ancillary revenue presents an opportunity that is not as vulnerable to outside variables."

Partnership models

Three ways to work with TBH.

Each model generates revenue from transactions that currently go nowhere. None requires capital investment or operational change.

Model A

TBH Storage Partner Network

Each participating rental location becomes a TBH storage partner — listed on the TBH platform and discoverable by travellers searching for storage in that city. Walk-in and pre-booked customers both check in at your counter. You earn per transaction with no minimum commitment required.

Revenue share per transaction · Settled monthly

Model B

Integrated Booking Upsell

TBH bag storage offered as an add-on at the point of rental booking — online at reservation, at the counter on pickup, or via your post-rental email sequence. Pre-booked storage demand confirmed before the customer arrives. Higher conversion than walk-in alone.

Integration fee + revenue share per booking

Model C

Concierge Service Integration

TBH bag storage as a component of your premium concierge or loyalty tier — offered to loyalty programme members, corporate account holders, and premium customers as a complimentary or discounted service. Aligns with and enhances existing premium customer initiatives without replacing them.

White-label available · Custom commercial terms

How it works

We handle everything. You earn on every booking.

TBH provides the technology, insurance, and training. Your counter staff follow a simple check-in process. The revenue arrives monthly.

01

TBH activates your location

We set up the TBH system at your counter in one day. Staff receive a brief training on the check-in and collection process. No new equipment required beyond a tablet or phone.

02

Customer checks in at the counter

The traveller asks to store their bags. Staff check items in through the TBH system. Each item receives a tamper-evident seal and a unique PIN. Under 60 seconds per transaction.

03

Items stored securely on site

Bags held in your designated secure area — behind the counter, in a back room, or in a dedicated TBH cabinet for high-volume locations. TBH insurance covers all items in custody.

04

Customer collects by PIN

The customer returns, enters their PIN, and collects their items. The transaction is logged. Your revenue share is calculated automatically and settled monthly.

Engagement levels

One location or your entire network.

Start with a market pilot to validate revenue and demand across a cluster of locations. Scale at whatever pace works for your organisation.

Pilot

Market pilot

Activate a cluster of locations in a single city or market — typically an airport branch plus two or three city-centre locations — to generate meaningful revenue data before committing to a wider rollout. No minimum term. Full performance reporting provided.

Regional

City or regional rollout

Activate all branches in a single city or region following a successful pilot. Dedicated TBH contact, volume-based revenue share, and quarterly performance reviews.

Network Partner

National or global partnership

A corporate-level agreement covering all branches under one commercial arrangement. Custom integration with your booking platform, co-branded presentation, enhanced revenue share, and quarterly business reviews.

What TBH provides

Everything needed. Nothing left to your team.

Insurance

TBH carries comprehensive bailee's liability insurance covering all items in custody. A certificate of insurance is available on request. We can name your company as additionally insured.

Technology

Each item receives a tamper-evident seal and a unique PIN. Collection by PIN only — no paper tickets. All transactions logged in real time. Monthly revenue statements generated automatically.

Staff training

A brief, simple training for your counter staff — typically 30 minutes. The check-in process takes under 60 seconds per customer and does not interrupt the rental workflow.

Setup

TBH activates a location in one day. No construction required. For high-volume locations, TBH can supply a dedicated secure cabinet at no additional cost.

Customer management

TBH handles all customer queries about stored items. Your staff do not manage storage-related customer service. Any uncollected items are handled by TBH directly with a full report provided.

Revenue reporting

Monthly statements itemised by location, transaction count, and revenue share. Settled within 14 days of month close. Quarterly business reviews for Network Partners.

Common questions

What commercial teams ask us.

Does TBH work alongside our existing loyalty and partner programmes?

Yes. TBH integrates with your existing loyalty structure — storage bookings can be offered as a loyalty benefit, a points redemption, or a paid add-on depending on the commercial model agreed. TBH does not require exclusivity and does not conflict with any existing third-party partnerships including airline, hotel, insurance, or credit card arrangements.

Does this create liability for our locations?

No. TBH carries comprehensive bailee's liability insurance that covers all items stored through the TBH system. Your location is not the bailee — TBH is. A certificate of insurance is available on request and we can name your company as additionally insured for your own records.

How much space does TBH storage require?

For low-volume locations, a designated area behind the counter or in a back room is sufficient. For high-volume locations such as major airports, TBH can supply a dedicated secure cabinet. We assess each location individually and recommend the right setup before activation.

Does this slow down the rental counter?

No. The TBH check-in process takes under 60 seconds per customer and runs alongside the existing rental workflow. Staff do not need to leave the counter. The system is designed to add revenue without adding friction to the customer experience.

Can TBH integrate with our booking platform?

Yes. Under the integrated upsell model, TBH bag storage can be offered as an add-on at the point of rental booking — online or at the counter. Integration requirements depend on your platform. Contact us to discuss the technical approach for your specific setup.

Can we start with a market pilot before a full rollout?

Yes — and we recommend it. A market pilot activating a cluster of locations in a single city gives you meaningful revenue data across different location types — airport, city-centre, neighbourhood — before any wider commitment is made. We activate the market, run the pilot for an agreed period, and present full performance data before a national or network-wide rollout is discussed. No minimum term on a market pilot.
