Check-In for Guardians
A quick, low-effort service your customers will love. Accept coats, bags, and work items at your counter and release them when the customer returns. The PWA handles everything — you just confirm and collect.
What you can accept
Travel gear
Carry-ons, daypacks, duffel bags, and personal items up to carry-on size.
Outerwear
Coats, jackets, and umbrellas — for when the customer wants to explore hands-free.
Work bags
Laptop bags, messenger bags, and briefcases. In and out in under a minute.
What you cannot accept
For the safety of your business and your customers, the following items must never be accepted:
Weapons of any kind — firearms, ammunition, knives, or tasers. Hazardous materials — flammables, explosives, corrosives, or compressed gases. Illegal substances of any kind. Perishable food items. Live animals. Items with visible damage or leaking contents. Any unidentified or suspicious package.
You have the right to decline any item at your discretion. If something doesn't feel right, don't accept it. Your safety comes first.
How to process a check-in
Select the item
Open the Guardian app and tap Check-In. Choose the item type from the grid — coat, bag, laptop, and more.
Set the duration
Ask the customer how long they need. Same-visit, overnight, or monthly. The app calculates the price instantly.
Seal and confirm
Attach a tamper-evident seal, scan or enter the seal number, take a photo if needed, and confirm the transaction.
Issue the PIN
The customer receives a PIN by WhatsApp or SMS. They show it when they collect. You release the item. Done.
Durations and pricing
Same-visit
A few hours, in and out the same day. Flat rate, no hourly creep. Perfect for shoppers, commuters, and day visitors.
Overnight
Customer drops off today, collects tomorrow. One flat rate covers the full period.
Monthly commuter
A regular customer who checks in daily or weekly. One monthly rate, renewed each cycle. Great for repeat foot traffic.
Common questions
What if a customer loses their PIN?
Open the Guardian app, go to the Collect screen and tap "Customer lost their PIN?". Enter the customer's phone number to look up their items. Ask them to confirm the item description and seal number before releasing anything.
What if a customer doesn't collect on time?
The app will flag the item as expiring soon or in overstay. You can send the customer a reminder directly from the app. If they still don't collect, hold the item and contact TBH support via WhatsApp.
Can I refuse a check-in?
Yes. You have full discretion to decline any item. If an item appears damaged, suspicious, or falls under the prohibited list, decline it politely and explain that it doesn't meet the storage criteria.
What if an item is damaged while in my care?
Every transaction includes Bag Protection coverage. Report any damage immediately via WhatsApp to support@thebaghotel.com before the customer collects. Do not release the item until you have spoken to TBH support.
